What is "non-clinical" peer support? How is it different from clinical peer support.
Peer Homeward's mission is to be available to all individuals that need a safe place to be themselves. To do that, we have chosen to forego the insurance and geographic barriers often caused by licensing issues. While Peer Homeward does not operation under a state licensed organization, it does consult with licensed clinicians for best practices rather than direct supervision.
The experience remains the same: simply one traveler supporting another traveler on their journey through the sharing of life experiences, lessons learned along the way, emotional validation, and co-regulation.
What is psychoeducation and how does peer support provide it?
During recovery journeys, you learn a lot of things along the way. Peer support is a great opportunity to learn and share benficial information. Peers often share basic information as a starting point; like information about insurance and service navigation, types of therapy, books, YouTube channels, coping skills, philosophies, etc. All of which they have found helpful in their own journeys and can be further explored with your own independent research or explored in depth with your clinical team.
Our offerings are held specifically for frontline behavioral health workers (crisis counselors, case managers, behavioral health techs, peer support specialists), adult members of the LGBTQ+ community, and adult individuals walking the terrain of complex trauma and nervous system exhaustion. The service is available to any adult English speaker in the US.
Traditional clinical models often rely on institutional hierarchies, diagnostic labels, and evaluation. Peer support meets on level ground. We do not seek to "fix," analyze, or give unsolicited advice to one another. Instead, we offer mutual understanding, shared presence, and non-judgmental witness with people who understand what the water feels like without requiring you to justify or translate your exhaustion.
Not much! All I have from Luma is your name, email, phone (if provided on Luma), date, and time for our appointment. As an independent peer facilitator, I don't take clinical notes for medical records or insurance companies and never record video, audio, or chats.
Because I am not a licensed therapist or working for a licensed organization, I am not a mandated reporter. That means, I am never legally required to break confidentiality. If you are in crisis during one of our sessions, I will support any decision you make about reaching out to an appropriate crisis service. As a former crisis specialist, I can even tell you what to expect, if you choose to call. However, when our session ends due to time or your choice, I will take no additional actions without your prior consent.
Self-Service Auto-Refunds: We honor that nervous systems, capacity, and life fluctuate. You can cancel your registration directly through your Luma dashboard or your confirmation email for an automatic 100% refund up to 24 hours before our event begins.
Within 24 Hours: Because our circles are intentionally small and seats are capped to keep the space quiet and safe, cancellations made less than 24 hours before we gather are non-refundable. If an unexpected crisis or capacity crash occurs, reach out and we will gladly credit your seat toward a future gathering.
Manual / Direct Requests: To protect this low-demand practice, any manual refunds processed outside of Luma’s automated window (including referral sourced Wayfinding Sessions) are subject to a deduction of the non-recoverable payment processing and platform fees.
But always feel free to reach us using the information below or contact us via our web form for assistance. We’re always willing to help you out the best we can! 😁
Our gatherings are strictly low-demand and camera-optional. For our free groups, we require for you to have your camera on during check-in only. But this is required to keep out people who don't belong (like trolls or people doing research). You are welcome to participate in pajamas, turn your camera back off, speak aloud, type only in the chat, or lie flat on your couch and simply listen. There is zero pressure to share or perform competency.
90 minutes. We begin and end promptly to respect your schedule, protect your energetic capacity, and eliminate the anxiety of open-ended meetings. Most peer support groups only last 60 minutes, leaving some members unheard. That's not us.
Never. You hold complete autonomy over your level of participation. Passive listening is considered full participation. At check-in, I'll ask if you want to introduce yourself. If you don't feel like talking, just say "No. I'm good." and go right back to your comfort zone.
All registrations are managed through our Luma calendar. Once you register for a gathering, Luma will automatically email you a private Google Meet link and calendar invitation. For safety and confidentiality reasons, meeting links are never published publicly on social media.
LGBTQ+ Sanctuary Circles: Free to attend
Frontline Behavioral Health Hearth Circles: $3 registration fee to cover platform costs and preserve group safety by filtering out automated bots or casual drop-ins.
1:1 Wayfinding Sessions: Suggested $35, but you can register for $25 Luma for a dedicated 60-minute session.*
